Fishtown Animal Hospital provides both conventional and alternative medicine to companion animals throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region, including:
Annual checkups. It’s important for your pet to see a vet at least once each year. We perform in-hospital physical examinations to monitor your pet’s wellness. Our head-to-tail exams include checking body weight, temperature, looking at the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hair coat and skin, evaluating the heart, lungs, abdomen, and lymph nodes, as well as muscles and joints. We also perform diagnostic tests to help us uncover any changes in your pet’s health.
Protecting pets from diseases like rabies and lyme disease, vaccinations are a critical part of your pet’s health. The rabies vaccine is required by law in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Other vaccines are recommended based on an animal’s individual lifestyle.
- Indoor cats should receive rabies and FVRCP (feline distemper vaccine).
- Outdoor cats should be given the above vaccines, in addition to the feline leukemia vaccine.
- Dogs should receive the rabies vaccine, DAPP (canine distemper, adenovirus for hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus), and potentially bordatella (kennel cough vaccine), lyme, and leptospirosis depending on the dog’s lifestyle.
Puppies and kittens receive serial vaccines every 3-4 weeks typically starting at 8 weeks of age up to 16 weeks. Elderly pets or pets with underlying medical conditions may not be vaccinated.Request Appointment
