				Veterinarian Owner

Fishtown Animal Hospital was founded by our veterinarian owner, Lauren Cohn, DVM, CVA. With a diverse education as a foundation, Dr. Cohn offers a well‐rounded approach to veterinary medicine through both conventional and alternative therapies.

Following graduation from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, Dr. Cohn completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Tinton Falls, NJ. She then went on to complete a specialty internship in Radiation Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. She simultaneously earned her Certification of Veterinary Acupuncture (CVA) and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Florida.
Dr. Cohn understands how stressful it can be when your pet is sick, and believes communication is key in developing treatment plans and helping you and your pet through difficult situations. She has special interest in internal medicine and acupuncture.
In her free time, Dr. Cohn enjoys spending time with her husband Rick, 2 rescue dogs (George and Wednesday Knuckles), and 6 cats (Wolfie Knuckles, Phoenix, Vincent Price, Pizza, Baby Elephant, and Penelope). She is an equestrian and enjoys riding Aloha, her Friesian horse. Lauren also loves the outdoors, boxing, and spending time with family and friends.

				Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Allison Newth earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2014. She has special interest in Dentistry, Dermatology, and Alternative Medicine. Dr. Newth is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist.
In her spare time she enjoys quilting, gardening, working on restoring her 320 year old farm house, and spending time with her husband, their 2 dogs (Finn and Jack), 3 cats (Penny, Charles, and Azia), and rabbit (Mr. Barnaby Manes).

				Dr. Jessica Basseches

				Radiologist

Dr. Basseches started out in the humanities but then realized that her heart belonged to animals and medicine. She changed paths in order to obtain her veterinary degree from NCSU CVM in 2003.
Subsequently, she performed a private practice internship in Florida, followed by a residency in radiology at the University of Georgia, finishing up in 2007.

She worked as a staff radiologist at Angell Animal Medical Center (MSPCA) in Boston for 5 years before traveling to the southern hemisphere as a locum radiologist, having the opportunity to work with a diverse range of species in varied and fabulous environments. When she came back to the United States, she moved to the Philadelphia area and worked at CARES for over 7 years.
She has also started her own independent radiology practice, Lucid Veterinary Imaging, providing radiology and ultrasound services to small animal hospitals in the area. She finds exotic radiology beautiful and grooves on the many facets of diagnostic imaging, getting to participate in almost all of the cases in the hospital and feeling like a critical part of the team helping our patients.
Dr. Basseches loves being out of doors as much as possible and in almost any capacity (an antidote to days spent in the dark), enjoys both teaching and learning, frolicking with her dogs and partner, running and hiking, critical thinking, resisting oppression, science fiction and creative vegetarian cooking of the bounty from her garden.
